St. George, Utah - Dr. Harold Robbins Griffin, 86, passed away August 23, 2011 of natural causes, having passed peacefully in his sleep at home. He was born March 5, 1925 in Escalante, Utah to Ernest Dougall Griffin and Mary Robbins Griffin. He married Wanda Faye Burton in 1948 and they were later sealed in the Logan LDS temple. They had two sons; Scott Burton Griffin and Gil Robbins Griffin. He later married InaRene Richards in 1989 and they were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple in 2004. Harold was raised in Escalante with his two brothers and two sisters. He left there at age 17 to join the Air Force and defend his country during WWII. He flew 35 missions as a tail gunner in a B17. Harold obtained his undergraduate studies at the University of Utah and Oklahoma A & M. He earned his Doctorate of Dentistry from the University of Iowa. He had practices in Des Moines, Salt Lake City, St. George and Escalante. Harold was a dedicated member of The LDS church, having served many callings including Branch President, several Bishoprics and High Councils. He loved the Gospel and passed that legacy on to his generations of family. Harold loved animals of all kinds. He raised quarter horses and parakeets. He enjoyed the companionship of many special pets. He loved to garden and was famous for his tomato plants. He loved to hunt on Boulder Mountain and fish at Posey Lake every year. Harold was lovingly devoted to his family, friends and patients. He knew no strangers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walton and Gerald; and first wife, Wanda. He is survived by his wife, InaRene; his sons: Scott (Beth) and Gil; step-children Michelle (Don) Werner, Kim (Lorelei) Grange, Richard (Sue) Grange; Kris (Lisa) Grange; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters: Joan (Ted) Murdock and Evalyn (Alma) Heaps. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Flood Street LDS Chapel, 85 South 400 East, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Tuesday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery.
