IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hazel Marie
Gonzales
December 15, 1938 – January 28, 2013
Washington, Utah - Hazel Marie Gonzales, 74, joined her sweetheart, Vince, on Sunday, January 28, 2013. She was born December 15, 1938 in Gainesville, Texas to Dave and Gertrude Turnham.
Hazel moved to St. George in 1963 with her husband Bill Wheat, where he was stationed in the Air Force, and their two children; Billie and Jeff.
Hazel enjoyed making many life-long friends whom she dearly loved while she worked at Skagg Drug Store, Jolly King Rest and Paulas Mexican Rest, before retiring from Osco/Payless/Rite-Aide Drug Store in the cosmetic department, where she loved helping customers find just the right make-up. During this time she was divorced. Then met the love of her life, Vince Gonzales. They were married October 24, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Her family was very important to her. She was the youngest of two sisters and four brothers. She loved returning to Texas for family reunions. She loved her nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was being a grandma and great-grandma. Spending time and traveling with the grandchildren was something she enjoyed most. She loved bingo, reading, NASCAR races and Willie Nelson - Vince was jealous.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Billie (Dennis) Gibson; step-son, Farrell Gonzales; step-daughter, Alison (Bard) Iverson; her brother, RC (Pauline); grandchildren: Rebel, Clinton, Kaysha, Chad, Rachelle, Malea, and Quinn (Brittney); and great-grandchildren: Kyleigha, Tayvin, Cambria, Rykin, Chandra, Cheyene, Braxton, McKenna, Kysen, Kash, Parx, Briley and Quade. She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Lloyd, Alfred, Dave, Geneva and Dollie; her husband, Vince; her son, Jeff and his father Bill Wheat.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Washington LDS Ward Chapel, 82 North Main Street, Washington, Utah.
