IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen Munford
Bauer
October 15, 1932 – January 2, 2025
St. George, Utah – Helen Munford Bauer, age 92, passed away January 2, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah, following a brief illness. Born October 15, 1932, in Cedar City, Utah to Warren T Munford and Ramona Rowley. She is the oldest of seven children, Barbara Ann (Keith Benson, dec.), Roger T Munford, Raymond G Munford (Carol), Marian (Jared Johnson, dec.), David Lynn Munford (Geri), Kathy (James Hadlock, dec.). She married Clesson Guymon Bauer (dec.) May 24, 1950, in Cedar City, Utah, later sealed in the St. George Temple. She and Clesson were loved by 25 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Helen enjoyed singing in church and school choirs, including a high school quartet. In high school, she was chosen as business student of the year. She later worked part-time in the law firm of John Palmer and Tim Anderson. Helen was a talented cook, seamstress, homemaker, and devoted wife and mother. She taught candy-dipping classes at Dixie College for several years, and delighted family and friends with her chocolates for decades at Christmas and special occasions. She made dozens of quilts and garments for her family and friends. In 1989 Helen won Best of Show for her quilt (designed by Karl) at the Washington County Fair, a blue ribbon at the Utah State Fair. She was also very talented at refurbishing and refinishing antique furniture, which are cherished by many family members. She crocheted many pillowcases and handkerchief edgings.
As the wife of a JC Penney manager, she and Clesson worked in Cedar City, Price, and Ogden, Utah, and Montpelier, Idaho where many life-long friendships were formed. They finally settled in St. George, Utah where Clesson was the store manager for 24 years. She and Clesson spent several years as temple workers in the St. George Temple during retirement.
Although she did not care for camping, they were a part of many family camping reunions throughout the Western US. Some of the grandchildren traveled with her to various locations after Clesson's passing.
Helen is also survived by two of her children: Joan B. Lewis and husband E. Nephi Lewis, and Karl Warren Bauer and his wife, Sarah Lee Bauer. Her two oldest children: Diane (John Elmer, dec.) and Boyd preceded her in death.
The family wishes to thank the many members of the Great Third Ward who cared for Helen in her declining years, especially Kathy Hall, Paul McMullin, Abe and Charlotte Young, and the Michael Moore family.
