LaVerkin, UT - Helen (Egan) Schoonover, 77, passed away peacefully in her LaVerkin home, Friday, June 12, 2009. She was born in Burley, ID, the third child of Troy C. Egan and Ethel (Campbell) Egan. She married her sweetheart, Jack Schoonover, on August 4, 1950. Six years and three children later they moved to Southern California where they eventually settled down in Long Beach. While raising her family, Helen worked as a vault clerk for First State Bank, and a Senior Account Clerk for Lynwood Unified Schools. She was also a member of the board for Mid-Cities Credit Union, and was very active serving in the LDS Church. Jack and Helen retired to LaVerkin, Utah in 1992 where she continued to serve in the church as a Relief Society President, and the director of the Family History Center. She also served her community as a member of the Board of Adjustments for the City of LaVerkin. Helen is survived by her sister, Georgia Blanch of Burley, ID; her eternal companion, Jack; three children: Jim, Dawn, David; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Helen will be held at the LaVerkin LDS Stake Center, 481 N. Main Street, LaVerkin, Utah on Saturday, June, 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be at the LaVerkin City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
