Obituary

Ivins, UT - Henry Benjamin Blake, 60, passed away August 31, 2010 at Dixie Regional Medical Center. He was born October 16, 1949 in St. George, Utah to Cecil and Virginia Blake. He married Carolyn Ann Botts on March 12, 1981 in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple. Henry was the youngest of six children. Because his mother died during his birth, he was taken in and raised by his loving Aunt Hazel and Uncle Ivan Davies. He was raised in Kanarraville, Utah where he learned to love the simple things in life. He enjoyed working with sheep and working the land on and around Kanarra Mountain. He loved all the experiences that he had growing up in such a small town. He served a mission in Tallahassee, Florida where he baptized his future sweetheart, Carolyn. After they were married, they shared their lives together with Carolyns two children, Mike and Tammy. They had three children together while living in St. George: Ann Elizabeth, Tiffany Rosena and Benjamin Ivan. They lived in Washington City, Kanarraville, St. George, Enterprise and finally in Ivins. Henry loved to travel. He took his family on many road trips to places including: Yellowstone, Oregon, California, Alabama and the church history sites, just to name a few. Of all the places he would visit, he was especially fond of the National Parks. He cherished his time in the Temple doing work for his loved ones there. He was an avid camper. He took a special joy from the simple things in life and always took time to notice so many of the special creations of his Heavenly Father. He had his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren. They look up to him and admire him so much. Most of all he loves the Lord and lived his life accordingly. His quiet strength was an inspiration and an example to all he came in contact with. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Blake and sister, Margaret Rose Decker. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; father, Cecil; step-mother, Ila May; siblings: Diane Imlay (Barton), Darrell Blake (Kathy), Janice Zieglar (Warren), Ron Blake (Debbie); children: Michael Dillard (Wendy), Tammy Flint, Ann Etherington (Kurt), Tiffany Clausse (Jesse), and Benjamin Blake; grandchildren: Brittany, Cole, Amber, Matthew, Kayla, Tyler, Max and Cameron. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ivins LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 15 North Main Street, Ivins, Utah. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
