Hurricane, Utah
– Henry Gordon Hilden passed away November 29, 2016. He was born January 19, 1937 in Petosky, Michigan to Henry Albert Hilden and Myrtle Elizabeth Hengy. He married Melinda Ann Martin and divorced after 26 years.
Gordon is survived by his six children: Noel Martin (Lisa), Toby Lyn (Lisa), Dorinda Adele, Jan-David (Brandy), Mindi-Lucile Eowyn, and Henry Gordon Hilden V "Chip"; grandchildren; and sister, Alice Gray. He was preceded in death by his mother (1972); father (1990); and ex-wife (2001).
Gordon was an artist, photographer and writer; telling and illustrating children's stories, working in oils, clay and papier-mache and other media; photographing scenes and people and working in the darkroom; and wrote novels in his later years.
He passed along his love of the arts to his children, many who are employed in the creative fields. He started his career in social work, then as a graphic artist, and finally as a teacher. While teaching at Bear Lake High School, he directed "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
A member of the Mormon Church, Gordon was ordained a High Priest and held several different callings in the many wards he attended.
He struggled with his health on and off for the last twenty years, undergoing a quintuple-bypass and other heart troubles, mental health issues and more, so his passing now is a relief.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association or to the missionary program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
A small graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on December 1, 2016 at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
