IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hollis "Holly"
Charles Muzingo
February 13, 1937 – January 23, 2025
Hurricane, Utah - Hollis "Holly" Muzingo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on February 13, 1937, in Toronto, Kansas, to Rena Fern Stewart and Charles "Chas" Henry Muzingo. He was born in a farmhouse, and his love for animals was one of the many cherished aspects of his character.
Holly spent his early years moving with his family, living in Kansas, Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas. He loved to run, swim, ride bikes, and go to the movies. His teen years were spent in El Centro, California, where he graduated from Central Union High School in 1956.
Despite facing significant health challenges early in life, Holly's determination to fully live life never wavered, and he stubbornly refused to let his health define him.
In 1960, Holly was inducted into the Masonic Imperial Lodge of California, later becoming a Master Mason and a dedicated lifelong Shriner. His involvement in the Masons was a significant part of his life, reflecting his commitment to service and brotherhood.
On April 4, 1964, Holly married Velma "Lou" Sizemore in Grants, New Mexico. Together, they raised their two children in Durango, Colorado, after moving there in 1971. They later moved to Farmington, New Mexico. Afterwards they moved to Hurricane Utah where they spent the last 31 years. Holly and Lou shared fifty-seven wonderful years of marriage.
Work was always a cornerstone of Holly's life. From the time he was 8 years old, he took on various jobs to support himself and his family. His adult life encompassed roles in banking and car sales, and in 1975 he became a broker and co-owner of Realty World Narrow Gauge Realty in Durango, Colorado. Holly achieved numerous professional accolades including his GRI and CRS designations. In addition, he was a Millionaire and Executive Sales producer, earning awards as a top listing agent, and top referral office throughout his career.
In 1980, Holly joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities throughout his life. Known for his infectious smile and sense of humor, Holly had a remarkable ability to see the potential in others and influence them for good. He loved the outdoors, had a keen sense of direction, and was a skilled handyman.
Holly is survived by his daughter, Leanne M. Morrell; and grandchildren: Emilie A. Morrell and Cameron T. Morrell of Anchorage, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velma Lou Sizemore; and his son, David Hollis Muzingo.
