Cottonwood Heights, UT - Howard Dan Moore passed away peacefully on October 28, 2012 at age 86. He was born June 3, 1926 in Parowan, Utah to LeRoy and Venice Moore, the fourth of ten children - Rollin, Mathel, Marjorie, Colleen, Beverly, Bruce, Genevieve, Karilyn, and an infant Joe who died at birth. Dan grew up on a farm in Parowan and later moved to Salt Lake City with his family.

At the outbreak of World War II, he joined the Navy and served as a SeaBee in the Philippines and China. Following discharge from the Navy, Dan completed a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Eastern States Mission, working on the Hill Cumorah Pageant.

After returning from his mission, Dan married Billie Marjean Baldwin, his "wonderful little lady," on October 14th, 1949 in the St. George Temple. Dan and Marjean had 52 happy years together until she passed away on December 13, 2001. They raised two children, Bonnie Bee and Howard Thad. They loved to go boating at Lake Powell with family and friends. Dan especially loved woodworking and spent many hours in his shop creating bird houses, baskets, and pens which he gave to family, friends, and neighbors.

Dan worked for the Utah National Guard in Salt Lake and St. George for 32 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a Bishop and member of the Stake High Council in the St. George area.

He married Bernis Connelly Mihlberger on January 4, 2004. They have shared a lovely companionship for the past 8 years, becoming part of one another's families.

Dan is survived by his wife Bernis and her family; children Bonnie B. (Perry - deceased) Houston and H. Thad (Pam); 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and many other loving and supportive family members.

Dan's family wishes to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice and Canyon Creek Assisted Living for caring for him with such kindness and his many friends and family members who showed compassion and tenderness during this time in his life.
