St. George, UT - Hyrum Keith Jones, age 77, passed away June 27, 2010 in St. George, Utah. Keith was born on December 29, 1932 in St. George, Utah to William Vaughn and Isabelle Leavitt Jones. Keith married Mary Smith on February 7, 1953 in St. George, Utah. They were later sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Keith was raised in Veyo, Utah. He attended school in Veyo and St. George. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in four Bishoprics, Scouting, Young Mens and other callings. Keith and Mary served a service mission as well. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, but most of all he enjoyed time with his family. Keith served in the Military during the Korean War. At the age of 18 he began working in the electrical power industry. Keith worked in every power plant on the Colorado River which gave Keith the opportunity to work in Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and California. Each location provided a unique setting for the family to grow. Keith and Mary returned to Veyo to retire where they created another beautiful home environment that was always open to visitors. He was involved in serveral aspects of the Veyo Community including Lions Club, Veyo Water Culinary Association, and Volunteer Fire Department. Keith is survived by his wife Mary, son Garry Keith (Kristy) of West Valley, UT, daughter; Julie (Cal) of Peoria, AZ, Nancy (Chris) of Phoenix, AZ, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sisters; LaVerne Hirschi (Lee, deceased), Alice Burgess (Burton), Maurine Hoff (Ed), and sister-in-law Ferral Jones (Lorin, deceased). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Lorin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Veyo Chapel in Veyo, Utah. Visitations will be on Friday evening July 2, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT and on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Veyo Cemetery with Military Honors.
