St. George, Utah - Irene Head Pele, passed on December 20, 2021, in St. George, Utah. She was born in Leone, American Samoa on March 30,1948 to Henry and Leonia Head. She married Elama Pele in San Diego, California on June 7, 1996.

Irene attended St. Theresa Elementary in American Samoa. She attended Jr. High and High School in Hawaii. Irene came to the states and worked as a caregiver at St. Bernardino Community Hospital. There she was able to obtain her certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was hardworking and dedicated to her craft. She then moved to San Diego/National City, CA to care for her mother Leonia and then later worked at a home care facility for the elderly. In San Diego is where she met her husband Elama Pele. Her last employment would be as a retail clerk for Walmart in San Bernardino CA.

Irene is survived by her husband, Elama Pele. Unfortunately, she and Elama did not have children of their own, but she was nurturing and loved her stepchildren and grandchildren. She loved her nieces and nephews as her own as well. She is also survived by her older sister, Amanda Cook, and younger brother, Frank Head.

One thing she loved more than Bingo was her family. Months, even years would go by and she would reconnect like no time had passed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., with a visitation prior at 12:00 p.m., at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. in St. George, Utah.

The family wishes to thank everyone that has been a part of Irene's life and for taking care of her while she was serving on this earth. God bless and may God be with you until we meet again.
