Dammeron Valley, UT - Jacob Cooper Lane Phelps, Jr., age 69, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at his home in Dammeron Valley, Utah. Born to Jacob Cooper Lane Phelps, Sr. and Evelyn Marie Christiansen Phelps on July 29, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Judy Cramer. They were married on December 30, 1995 and have resided in Dammeron Valley for 9 years. Lane grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Graduated from West High School in 1959. He was a Plumber/Pipe fitter for 45 years with local 140. He had the opportunity to live in New Mexico and Arizona before he returned to his home state of Utah to retire. He had an avid love for the outdoors and wildlife. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and lending a helping hand wherever possible. Lane was a wise, creative and kind-loving man who influenced the lives of everyone he met. He is survived by his wife: Judy Cramer Phelps; children: Dustin (Sheila) Tauferner, Joy (Tom) Meadows, Steve (Amy) Zabriskie, Mary (Les) Jackson, Wade Jensen, Shane Simpson, Shaun (Brandy) Simpson, Rick (Cory) Christensen; 22 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother Bill Phelps; sister Sharon Hobbs. Preceded in death by father & mother; 3 sisters: Ruby McQuiston, Carroll Nagel, Afton Morrison. A visitation will be held on April 9, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Diamond Valley Chapel, 1784 West Diamond Valley Dr., Diamond Valley, UT. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT. Visitations will be held on Monday, April 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 12, from 10: 00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The American Cancer Society in Lane's honor.
