Salt Lake City, Utah - James David Allman, 47, passed away in his sleep as the result of a pulmonary embolism on March 25, 2015. Jim was born in Torrance, California. He did most of his growing up in West Bountiful, UT and usually had a basketball in his hand. Jim was an Eagle Scout who graduated from Viewmont High School in 1985, where he was involved in theater and was a member of the Madrigals choral group. Jim served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Boston, Massachusetts from 1986 to 1988. Jim had an adventurous spirit and a great love for the outdoors, especially the mountains. He loved camping, hiking, fishing, skiing, and mountain biking. Jim was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and is best known for his role as Elder Smithson in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints film, Labor of Love. Other appearances of Jim's include Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd, The Alma 26 LDS seminary Video, VH1's Warning: Parental Advisory, and Ski Patrol. Jim is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents: Cathy Berglund and Sam (Jessie) Allman; his sisters, Kim (Odean) Bowler, Tiffany (Mike) Hardy, Mindy Terry, Tami (Jeff) Harris, and Elysee Allman; his brothers: Jason Olsen (Tim Thorpe), Shauin (Rachel) Olsen, and Mckay Allman; and his 17 nieces and nephews as well as a soon-to-be great nephew who will be joining the family at the end of May. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christina Allman; his niece, Samantha Bowler; his step- father, Scott Berglund; and his grandmother, Polly Beatty. Jim was laid to rest on April 6, 2015 in Gunlock, UT in a private service attend by his immediate family. A memorial service will be held to honor Jim's life on May 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel located at 2301 East Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
