St. George, Utah - James Edward Fisher passed peacefully in his sleep at Southgate Memory Care in the early hours of March 11, 2022.

Jim was born March 24, 1945, to Michael and Mary Lucas Fisher. He was the youngest of nine and lived on the family homestead in Mellen, Wisconsin. He would become a welder after high school and would later move to California, finally settling down in St. George, UT and marrying his wife Kathy on January 5, 1990. You could always find him building a fence line for a pasture, working on the Meadows property, or fixing something out in his shop. He was a crafter and master at making anything he touched better than he got it.

Jim always grew an amazing garden with so many tomatoes people would hide when they saw him coming with yet another bag. He took great pride in that. To his great grandchildren he was affectionately known as Papa Bimbo Schimbo, he was such a jokester and loved that nickname. He always said the only things he can't weld is a broken heart and the crack of dawn, our hearts are truly broken.

In the later years Jim battled multiple bouts with cancer and beat it every time. In his own words he was strong like a bull, and he truly was. He will be sorely missed by his whole family, but we know that he can finally rest.

Our family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and caretakers that have been involved over the years. He will leave a lasting impression on everyone he ever met.

Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy; three children: Marty, Ted and Wendi (Cody) Mangum; siblings: Agnes (John) Duesing, Nancy Fisher; four grandchildren: Britani (Kyle), Anthony (Marina), Brenna, Brett; three great grandchildren: Terron, Hayden, Mia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Mary; sisters: Hattie (Fisher) Striker, Betty (Fisher) Hein, Mary (Fisher) Kapusta, Donna (Fisher) Hockemeyer; brothers: John Fisher and William Fisher; and great granddaughter, Marley.

A memorial service to spread his ashes will happen in April.
