St. George, Utah – James Monaghan "Jim", our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017, age 87, at his home in St. George, Utah.
Jim was born on February 27, 1929 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Graduated High School at St. Thomas More, went to work for General Electric and then joined the Air Force in 1948. He was discharged in 1952 in Long Beach, California. He went to Long Beach State College where he got his Bachelor of Science. He went to work for Northrop as an auditor.
In 1962 Jim married Louise Mary Jendrusik and they had four lovely children; daughters: Terry, Mary, Tina and a son, Jimmy, later they divorced.
In 1974 Jim decided to start his company in recycling obsolete equipment; J M Metals, Inc., in South El Monte, California. He sold his business in 2000.
Jim met Allene Udy Chadwick, they both had something in common, and that was dancing at least twice a week. They were married March of 1997 and lived in Riverside, California. In 2002 they decided to retire in St. George, Utah.
Jim loved to travel, so they made two big trips a year until 2007 when he decided that reading, playing cards and loving his cats was his great joy.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Monaghan, a sister, Mary; brother, Jack, and a daughter, Terry. He is survived by his wife of St. George, Utah, daughters: Mary Smyth, Tina Lomagno, son Jimmy (Roberta) Monaghan. His step-children; Gaylene (Victor) Salinas and Clayton (Crystal) Chadwick, grandchildren: Allyson, Emily, Sarah, Rebekah, Deborah, Hanna, Matthew, Joshuia, Jerimia, Daniel, Megan, and Kelly. Step-grandchildren: Lauren, Nicholas, Tyler, Kyle, Skyler, McKayla and Ryle; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank the loving hands of Sun Tree Hospice, also the nurses on the fourth floor of the hospital. Thank you very much for your loving care.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the St. George Animal Control Shelter at 605 East Red Hills Parkway, St. George, Utah 84770
