St. George, UT - Janet Faye Hansen Earl, age 71, passed away on August 17, 2010 at her home in St. George, Utah. She was born on March 8, 1939 in Provo, Utah to Raynold Afton Hansen and Melba Nettie Smith Hansen. She is married to Evan Leon Earl. They were married on May 28, 1994. They were married in the St. George LDS Temple. Janet and her family moved to California in 1940 where her father worked as an accounting supervisor at Columbia - Geneva Steel, (a division of U.S. Steel). Janet was raised in San Mateo, California. She is the youngest of four children. Janet graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1957 and went on to get her teaching degree at BYU in Provo, Utah. Janet then taught school in southern California where she met her first husband Ron Caso. They had three children, Paul, Dean and Cindy. They moved back to Utah and Janet taught in different schools as a substitute or part time teacher until they moved to St. George, Utah in 1978. Janet got a full time teaching job with the Washington County School District and taught at West Elementary, Santa Clara Elementary and finished her teaching at Sunset Elementary School. Most of her teaching was the second grade. She retired from teaching after 21 years in the Washington County School District. Janet has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many positions in the church. Janet liked to travel and see new places. She traveled with her sister Joyce on many trips and later liked traveling with her husband Leon. She is survived by her husband Evan Leon Earl, her brother, Richard Hansen (Myrna Roundy Hansen) of Taylorsville, UT, her children; Paul E. Caso (Kim Tingey Caso) of Meadow, UT, Dean A. Caso (Jenice Adair Caso) of West Jordan, UT and Cindy Caso Adams (Brett W. Adams) of Syracuse, UT, five stepchildren; Rebecca Earl Shoemaker of Las Vegas, NV, Marilyn Earl Carpenter (Carl Carpenter) of Queen Creek, AZ, Carolyn Earl Moore (Korey Moore) of St. George, UT, Larry E. Earl (Snezana Velickovic Earl) of Kapaa, Kauai, HI, Michele Earl Rogers (Ben Rogers) of St. George, UT, 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Westridge LDS Chapel, 415 North Westridge Dr. (next to the Sunset Elementary School, St. George, Utah). Visitations will be held Sunday, August 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 W. St. George Blvd. and on Monday one hour prior to services at the chapel.
