Obituary

It is with great sadness and much love, that the family of Janis Wayman announce her passing. On Saturday November 27, 2021, Janis lost her long and hard-fought battle with cancer and is finally free. She was surrounded by love and her family to the very end.

She is survived by her husband and best friend of 25 years, Jeff Wayman; two daughters: Jennifer Drysdale (Charlie) and Nicole Babcock; six grandchildren: Brayden Drysdale, Cadence Drysdale, Rebekah Drysdale, Dalila Babcock, Mahalia Drysdale, Ashton Babcock; brothers: Chris Sapp (Carol) and Rob Sapp; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, Diamond Sapp; her mother, Mahalia Sapp; her sister, Randy Evans; and 7 dogs that she loved with all her heart.

Janis was a kind woman with a smile that lit up a room. She genuinely cared for people and could start up a conversation with anyone. In her healthy years, she loved visiting Zion National Park, Snow Canyon, Kolob & Pine Valley to hike, walk and explore. She loved to be outdoors and would often take long drives through Kolob, Zion or any back road she could get lost on, just to recenter herself. She adored Carpinteria Beach in California and spent countless vacations there throughout her life with her immediate and extended family. Thanks to her loving husband she was able to experience Carpinteria one last time this past summer. Illness is hard. We are so grateful to know that the fun loving, and carefree Janis is now free of her earthly trials, and we know she is happy and pain free in the arms of her parents.

A remembrance and celebration of life for Janis will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Interment will follow in the Pine Valley, Utah Cemetery.

After the interment, a brunch will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Washington Stake Center, 446 East Mangum Road, Washington, Utah. If you knew Janis, we would love to see you there. Her favorite color was purple. If you would like to add a little purple to your outfit in her remembrance, that would be lovely.
