Hurricane, Utah – Jay Richard West, 80, passed away November 28, 2024. He was born on September 14, 1944, in Richmond, California to Clarence and Hazel West. He married Darla Power on May 6, 1966.

Jay was an avid outdoorsman. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, camping and hiking. On Jay and Darla's first wedding anniversary, he gave her a fishing pole and hiking boots. When their children, Randy and Christine, were growing up they would go fishing every year to Lake Davis or Bridgeport in Northern California and later waterskiing on Berryessa Lake.

Jay was very industrious and always had a job. He was a skilled carpenter and remodeled their first two homes with custom cabinetry.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed to Darla in the Oakland Temple.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sky Mountain Ward Chapel, 452 North 2600 West, Hurricane, Utah. A visitation will be held Thursday, prior to services, from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery located at 225 East 600 North.
