Obituary

Martha Jean Cox Jensen, age 85, passed away on March 15, 2024, in Washington, Utah. She was born in Buhl, Idaho; married Neil Jensen in the Manti Temple in 1959; and they were blessed with four children. Neil worked for the Forest Service, which took them to Nephi, Spanish Fork, and Logan Utah, Tonopah Nevada, and Taos New Mexico. Jean graduated from BYU with a BA in History and earned an MA in History from Utah State University and a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from BYU. She worked in the Merril Library at USU for 13 years and at the Santa Clara Branch Library for 7 years. Prior to that time Jean taught piano lessons for 22 years. She was an organist and choir director for many years in various wards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Neil and Jean served a Church History Mission at the St. George historical sites. In retirement Neil and Jean moved to Hurricane, Utah, at Lava Bluff where Neil died in 2008. Jean then served another church mission for 18 months in the Germany Berlin Mission. She loved to travel and see historical places. She took several escorted land tours and six cruises. She was an active member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was a member of several historical organizations. She moved from her home in Lava Bluff in 2021 to Washington, Utah. She was an avid reader of non-fiction. She also enjoyed reciting poetry and attending musicals, symphonies, and concerts. She is survived by her 4 children: Greg Jensen (Edwina), Joyce Jensen, Danny Jensen (Gayle), Patti Zabriskie (Paul); 19 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m., with a viewing prior from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Capilla LDS Chapel, 807 Capilla Dr., Washington, Utah. Interment will be at the Hurricane City Cemetery, at 225 East 600 North, Hurricane, Utah

Following the interment, a family gathering and luncheon will be at the Green Spring Association Clubhouse, 1152 West Vista View Dr, Washington, UT

Our Family wants to give a special thanks for the medical professionals who took such good care of our Mom this past year. Thank you.
