Hurricane, Utah - Jean-Paul Bourque was born December 27, 1927. Dad was the youngest of 14. He was raised in Quebec, Canada until he joined the US Army, at the age of 21, where he served for 20 years.  God brought mom and dad together in His own unique fashion in 1953.  He and mom married in 1955 and began their, 69-and-a-half-year journey around the globe (France, Turkey, Washington DC, Indiana, California, Utah), raising six kids along the way.  They settled in Utah where he retired from the service and took a job as a credit manager.

He worked hard, sticking with things when they were hard, even plumbing.  His children acquired these same traits through his example.  He loved camping, traveling, skiing, hiking, exploring and woodworking.  All of his children and grandchildren have learned to love these things too, and all have some piece of his woodwork in their homes.  He was a devout Catholic giving much of his time and talents (singing and woodwork) to his small, local parish.

He loved God, his family and his country, in that order and taught us to love these things too.  He was "father" to 11 children (in-laws were his too), Grandpa to 32 grandchildren and and Great Grandpa to 29 great grandchildren. He was blessed with a long, full life of 96 years and 10 months.

He went home on October 30, 2024, to a glorious reunion with all his siblings, his parents, two daughters-in-law, a great grandchild, and many other family members and friends.  Enjoy the party, Dad.  We know you're all singing.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 13, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church locate at 171 Main Street in Hurricane, Utah.
