IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanette Irene
Persinger
September 27, 1935 – October 26, 2025
Jeanette Irene Persinger, 90, of Hurricane, Utah, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Primrose Retirement Community in Washington, Utah, after a long and well-lived life. Jeanette was born on September 27, 1935, in Angus, Nebraska, to Warren and Lois Grossman, the first of two children.
Jeanette loved her childhood on the family farm with her parents and sister, Sharon. Life was often challenging during the Depression, but hard work, love, and perseverance carried them through. She fondly reminisced throughout her life about growing up in rural Nebraska—trucking wheat for her father and countless other memories. After graduating from high school, she moved to Hastings and later Lincoln, Nebraska, where she worked and built lifelong friendships. She met and married Marvin Persinger shortly after he returned from honorably serving his country in the Korean War as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery. They were married on December 4, 1954, and enjoyed 67 happy years together until Marvin's passing in 2021.
One of Jeanette's favorite stories to share was how she and Marvin met and were taught by missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being baptized in 1958. A year later, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Jeanette devoted her life to serving the Lord, her family, and those around her. One of her lifelong passions was family history, tracing both her and Marvin's family lines back to the pre-Revolutionary War period and helping countless others do the same. She served faithfully in many church callings, including teaching positions, as well as in ward and stake Relief Society and Young Women presidencies. She also enjoyed name extraction and other service opportunities. Later in life, she and Marvin presided over the Member Locator Mission in St. George, Utah, and served together as temple workers in the St. George Temple.
Jeanette was deeply devoted to her family, near and far. She loved each of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and their families, as well as her extended family. She and Marvin never missed a chance to call and sing "Happy Birthday" to their loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Lois; her firstborn son, Mark; and her great-grandson, Josh. She is survived by her children: David (Julie), Julene (Travis), and Michael (Regena); her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sister, Sharon Rouse (Richard).
A graveside service will be held in her memory on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hurricane City Cemetery, 255 East 600 North, Hurricane, Utah.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Primrose Retirement Community of Washington for their loving care, and to Metcalf Mortuary for their compassionate assistance.
