Washington, Utah – Joan Duncan, 89, passed away May 20, 2025. She was born on June 12, 1935, in Queens, New York to Ernest Winn and Else Mueller Winn. She moved with her family to Salt Lake City at the age of 16 in hopes of meeting Latter-day Saint men.

After settling in Salt Lake, she met Arlen Duncan at the Safeway store where he worked, conveniently located across the street from her home. They dated for four years and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 20, 1956. Together they shared 74 wonderful years of love and devotion.

She had a deep love for the outdoors and an unquenchable zest for life. Always seeking new adventures, she travelled to Europe to tour the salt mines, flew to Hawaii, hiked to the Emerald Pools at Zion National Park untold times, explored Alaska and Isle Royale, and enjoyed plays at the Tuacahn Amphitheater. She never stopped dreaming, always finding a way to make her next adventure happen.

Joan is survived by her beloved husband, Arlen, Sr.; her children: Cynthia, Marilyn, Arlen II, Sam, Aaron, John, Kenny and Steve; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Bonny; and others dear to her heart.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington Fields 10th Ward Chapel, 628 South 3000 East, St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, prior to the service, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the Washington City Cemetery located at 300 Park View Drive.
