LaVerkin, UT - Joan Mary "Hyam" Hopkinson, age 59, passed away in LaVerkin on March 6, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on December 31, 1953 to Donald Cuthbert and Dolores Kazmierkiewicz Cuthbert. She married Timothy Lee Hopkinson on August 3, 1991 in Dana Point, California. She loved accounting and received her Bachelors Degree, finishing school while battling cancer. One of her favorite things in life was dancing and teaching belly dancing. She loved her dance troup, Zarifa. She was a born again Christian. She also enjoyed sewing, the outdoors and camping. Joan is survived by her husband of 21 years, Timothy, son Pete Scott, stepchildren; Tim Hopkinson, Jr., Amber Hopkinson, Danny Hopkinson, mother-in-law Laverne Hopkinson, two sisters; Linda Cuthbert and Laura Amsburry, brothers; Steven Cuthbert, Donald Cuthbert and Joe Castillo and two brother-in-laws; Herb and Howard Hopkinson and sister-in-law Rebecca Hopkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at 2:00 pm, at the LaVerkin 5th Ward LDS Chapel, 70 South 300 West, La Verkin, UT. A visitation will be held prior to services at the chapel from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the LaVerkin City Cemetery.
