Joan Catherine Stimatz, 90, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on July 9, 2026 at her home in Washington, Utah.

Joan was born October 11, 1935 in Tooele, Utah to Anne and Edwin Hoffman. She graduated from Tooele High School, and worked at Tates Confectionery. Soon after she met the love of her life Milan A. Stimatz, and they married August 20,1955 at Saint Marguerites Catholic Church, Tooele, Utah. Their family included three beloved children: Edwin Michael, Debra Anne and Sherry Kaye.

Joan loved her family dearly and devoted her time as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved baking memorable traditional dishes carried down from her mother and grandmother.

Joan and Milan traveled often with their family, making memories while visiting family and friends. She had a passion for shopping, but not always for herself, she made certain to always think of others and would gift family and friends on any occasion. Her beauty, smile and laughter would fill a room, and her silly sense of humor will be missed.

Joan is survived by her two children: Edwin (Angela) Stimatz and Sherry Stimatz; grandchildren: Michael Stimatz, Milan Stimatz and Elizabeth (Garret) Jenson; great-grandchildren: William and Sylvia Jenson, and Dilyn Waldron. Nephew, Mark (Nathan) Hoffman, Severin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Milan A. Stimatz; daughter, Debra A. Stimatz; brother, Edwin “Ed” Hoffman; and nephew, Michael “Mike” Hoffman.

Joan had a special place in her heart for all her wonderful kind neighbors and friendships she cultivated throughout her 30 years in Washington. She loved and spoke highly of so many.
