Obituary

Joanie Julie Bergeron, cherished daughter, sister, and friend, passed away on August 24, 2025, in St George, Utah, at the age of 31. Surrounded by loved ones, she left this world due to complications from a pulmonary embolism. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew her, Joanie's radiant spirit continues to illuminate the lives she touched.

Born on September 14, 1993, in Quebec, Canada, Joanie lived there until the age of six, when her family moved to the United States. As a child, she delighted in fishing trips with her grandparents. In her school years, she discovered a love for music and learned to play the saxophone, enjoyed playing tennis, and found joy in performing in school plays. As an adult, she loved playing with children. She spent countless hours with her younger brother and sister, as well as her nieces, creating memories filled with laughter and love. At age 26, she adopted a golden doodle whom she named Reese. Reese quickly became her baby and close companion.

Her passion for helping others was the heartbeat of her life. With a bachelor's degree in psychology, Joanie dedicated herself to healing and hope. She volunteered at a women's crisis center, journeyed to Mexico to serve communities, taught English online, and worked in an elementary school ESL program, helping young children learn English with patience, love and care. Even while facing personal struggles, Joanie reached out to teenage girls in crisis, offering them empathy, hope, and unwavering support.

To know Joanie was to be embraced by warmth, compassion, and love. She was a beautiful soul whose smile could lift the heaviest heart and whose presence brought comfort, joy and light. Her heart overflowed with kindness that reached into the lives of everyone she met. Joanie didn't just care, she loved deeply, and that love left a lasting imprint on all who crossed her path. Her life was a living testament to resilience, grace, and love. Though her time with us was far too brief, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she uplifted, inspired, and embraced with her gentle spirit. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Joanie carries a piece of her light within them.

Joanie is lovingly remembered by her father, Alain (Susan) Bergeron; her mother, Louise Duguay (Shawn Oshaughnessy); her sister, Rachel Bergeron; her brothers, Simon (Connie) Bergeron, Jason Bergeron and Matthew (Alex) Smith; and her nieces, Nicole and Natalie Bergeron.

We will forever remember Joanie as a daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose love was boundless and whose soul was truly beautiful. She will always be in our hearts.
