St. George, UT - JoAnne Kelly Baker, 84, from St. George Utah passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012. She was born January 6, 1928 in Salt Lake City Utah to Claude John Nelsen and Mary Fern Kelly. She married Kenneth Eugene Baker on January 2, 1946. She spent most of her life in Southern California and moved to the St. George area 18 years ago.

JoAnne was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved the gospel and served in many callings, including the St George Temple. The church and her family were the most important things in her life.

She was a very talented painter and loved giving paintings to her family and friends. She was always busy creating and doing things like geneology, sewing, quilting, canning, broken china art, crocheting, embroidery, smocking, and gardening. She won many ribbons for her entries at local fairs. She liked drawing house plans and building things. JoAnne also loved music especially playing the piano and gave lessons for many years.

JoAnne is survived by her children, John (Janet) Baker from New Harmony Ut, Patricia (William) Western from St George Ut, Michael (Janine) Baker from Quartz Hill Ca., 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren. Her family will miss her very much but knows they will see her again.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 9:00 a.m. at the Ivins City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, UT.
