Obituary

Joel Randall Anderson, age 64, left this life on Saturday, August 2, 2014. He was born on December 30, 1949 in Richfield Utah to Oliver Martel Anderson and Vera Knudsen. He married Debra Ricks Anderson on September 19, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Randy grew up in Junction, Utah, farming and ranching alongside his father, mother, and eight siblings. After graduating from Piute High, he served in the U.S. Army and also as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in North Carolina. He loved studying and sharing the gospel. Randy had a special place in his heart for the ranch his Father had built and returned to the hard work as a cattle rancher when his father could no longer care for the ranch. He transitioned to working in the water industry for both the Utah Rural Water and National Rural Water Associations and stayed in this industry for the last 28 years, helping provide quality drinking water to rural communities throughout the US.

Through his years of hard work, he took great pride in providing every opportunity, especially higher education, for his children. He welcomed every new member of his family with great love and enjoyed spending time with them, particularly his grandchildren.

He loved the outdoors and spending time at the family ranch near Junction. Randy will be remembered as the hardest worker his family and friends have ever met.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie; all of his children: Angela A. Hansen (Scott), Brandon J. Anderson (Jessica), Benjamin R. Anderson (Sharie), Samuel M. Anderson (Audrey), Tyler R. Anderson (Flora); and 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: JaNel Bay, Alcea Slack, Sonja Bailey, Vernon Anderson, Sara Roper, and Robert Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. James LDS Ward Chapel, 1095 East St. James Lane, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will be in Tonaquint Cemetery.
