Ivins, Utah – John Winslow Evans passed away on December 10, 2024, after a long and productive life. He was 93 years old at the time of his passing. John was living in Ivins, Utah with his wife, Virgie.
Son of Leland Evans and Hortense Farr, John was the 5th of 7 children. Born in Arimo, Idaho in his Grandmother and Grandfather Farr's home on the 1st of February 1931. After his marriage, they moved to Pocatello where his three children, Connie, Glenna, and Michael, were born.
He began working on the docks at Garette Trucking pulling trucks in to be loaded then moving them to the gate for the drivers. Soon he started driving the "short line" to Idaho Falls and back. This was the beginning of his lifelong vocation. From Pocatello he moved to Salt Lake City and married Vicki, after which they moved to Mesa, AZ for a short time. When John retired, they moved to St. George, UT. While in St. George, Vicki passed away and John married Virgie Lyman.
John was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served multiple missions for the Church including one to Australia with his wife Virgie. He enjoyed spending time in the LDS Temple.
John is survived by his wife, Virgie; his two daughters: Connie Lou Christensen and Glenna Jean Wolley; and two of Vicki's children: Pam Worthen and Terry Chivers who were sealed to him and Vicki. John has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki; his parents, LeLand and Hortense Evans; his siblings: LeLand, Shirley, Janice, Renee, Jerry and Marcia; and son, Michael Evans.

There will be two opportunities for viewing John, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and Wednesday, December 18th from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at the Ivins 10th Ward Chapel, 25 West Center Street, Ivins, Utah. Interment will be in the Ivins City Cemetery located at 200 West 400 North.
