St. George, Utah - John Wendell Palmer, 84, left this life on May 10, 2016. He was born in Cannonville, Utah (put your hand on your heart) on October 20, 1931 to John William Palmer and Elinor Ross Palmer. He is survived by his wife Gladys Johnson Palmer; children: David Palmer, Eric (Michelle) Palmer, Paula (Dale) Taylor, and Sara Beck; and brother, Verle Palmer. He is survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Christopher John, Lisa, and Kayla (Kaden McDonald) Palmer, Thomas (Caroline), Michelle (Myles Kevern), Julia, and Kevin John Taylor, Jacob, Nicole, and Jason John Palmer, and Naomi Taylor and Harvey Kevern.
John graduated from Tropic High School, Dixie College, Brigham Young University, and the University of Utah College of Law. He practiced law in Vernal and St. George Utah. He served as St. George City Attorney under three mayors and represented Washington County School District for many years. One of the highlights of his life was teaching English and law at a university in China for a year. He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He served in many capacities in church and community, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. And just like Horton, he was faithful 100 percent.
A private family burial will be held in the St. George City Cemetery, St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.Metcalf Mortuary
