Obituary

St. George, UT - John Thomas Paul, Jr., age 82, passed away June 14, 2009 in St. George, UT. He was born in Miami, Arizona on June 28, 1927 to John T. Paul, Sr., and Mary Ellen Culver. John was raised in Inspiration and Miami, Arizona and had several summer jobs in the copper mines there. After graduating high school, John received a B.A. in education from Arizona State University, then served in the US Army for two years. After his honorable discharge he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and worked as a teacher. There he met and married his wife Ferrel Naegle on August 28, 1953. John also worked as a Principal, completed his Masters degree in education, and coached track and basketball at Rancho High School. He later served as associate superintendent for the Clark County School District for 10 years. John and Ferrel retired to St. George, Utah, where they enjoyed golfing at Bloomington County Club and traveling in their R.V. He is survived by his wife Ferrel; daughter Cheryl Johnson; grandchildren: Jennifer, Jeffrey, and Julianne; his brother Bill and sister Rita Fincher. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 19, 2009, at 10 a.m., in the Tonaquint Cemetery, St. George, Utah, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221. A visitation will be held Thursday, from 7-9 p.m., at Metcalf Mortuary 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, UT.
