St. George, Utah - John Richard Shankey, born May 2, 1932, passed away October 11, 2015. He was a loving husband to Diane for 43 years and loving father to three sons: John Stewart, Peter and David. John served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He enjoyed a long career in Insurance in the Boston area before retiring to St. George, Utah in 2005. He loved God, spending time with family and friends, music, food, traveling, the ocean, and playing the clarinet. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Promise Lutheran Church, 244 South Valley View Drive, St. George, Utah. Interment will be in Tonaquint Cemetery.
