Obituary

St. George, Utah – Jon Douglas Gentry, passed away on June 14, 2018, just 4 days before his 44th birthday. Jon was born June 18, 1974, in St George, Utah to Douglas and Donna Leavitt Gentry. He married Veronica (Ronnie) Walters in 2001. They later divorced.
Jon grew up in St George. He attended West Elementary, Dixie Middle School, Pine View High School and Dixie College.
He worked in the wilderness as a field supervisor at Red Cliff Ascent and he was also a favorite senior male staff member at Majestic Ranch, both programs for troubled youth. Jon worked in the health care industry and was always a favorite among the patients.
Jon loved nature and the outdoors. He was a great Dutch oven cook, a dead ringer with a sling shot and proficient at building a fire with a bow drill. He loved art and underestimated his talent as an artist. Jon used that talent as a painter at the Blue Table Group where he painted and sold miniature figurines and terrains. He has produced numerous pieces of art.  Jon deeply loved his friends and family. He will be missed by so many.
Jon is survived by his parents: Doug and Donna Gentry; brother, Brad (Sarah) Gentry; sisters: Lindy (Eric) Beese and Lauren (James) Hunt; long-time girlfriend, Stephanie Hayden Lyons and her daughters: Kenzie (daughter Sophia) and Chloe; 14 nieces and nephews.
