Obituary

Las Vegas, NV - Joseph Egbert Davis, Jr. passed away on June 4, 2009 in Las Vegas after a lingering illness. He was born April 2, 1922 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Egbert and Alberta Cram Davis. He married Barbara Jeane Chipman August 20, 1943 in La Junta, Otero County, Colorado. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. He served 7 years in the Air Force as a fighter pilot in WWII. He served in North Africa and France. He received a purple heart and retired as a Major of the Air Force. He is a graduate of the University of Utah. He taught physics and chemistry. He was always an active member of the community and church. He served as a bishop in Danville, CA and also served in the High Council in St. George. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of two. His surviving family members include his wife, Barbara; his sons: Daniel Paul (Patty) of Las Vegas, NV and Anthony Joseph (Yvonne) of Park City, UT; his only daughter, Krestine Davis of Salina, UT; and his sisters: Ruth (Clary) Garrick of Salina, UT and Virginia (Keith) Glad of Salt Lake, UT. He is preceded in death by his parents; his oldest son, Michael Charles Davis; sister, Vivian Gillette; and brother, Edwin Victor Davis. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 to 12:45 p.m. at the chapel, prior to services. Interment will be at theTonaquint Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221.See
