Obituary

Winchester Hills, Utah – Joseph Demar Hicken passed away April 11, 2017 of natural causes with his loving wife by his side. He was born June 2, 1924 in Woodland, Utah to Orson Nello and Lorene Ellis Hicken. As a young man he worked hard in farming and ranching. After graduation from school and college he moved to Provo, Utah where he worked for Geneva Steel for 38 years.
Joe married Eulene Clegg in 1946 and they were married for 50 years. After Eulene's passing, Joe met Golda Abbott while playing Bingo in Mesquite. Joe and Golda were married on April 29, 1997 in Washington, Utah.
Joe had a passion for painting and drawing and built an art studio in his home in Winchester Hills. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and growing the most beautiful gardens. He was an avid reader and his favorite author was Louis L'Amour.
Joe was the proud father of two sons, Blaine Demar and Steven. He is very proud of his family and extended family.
Joe was preceded in death by his four siblings: Donald, Gerald, Betty Lou and Effie; and his son, Steven. He is survived by his wife, Golda; son, Blaine; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heber City Cemetery, Heber, Utah.
