Obituary

St George, UT – Joseph John McKillop, born on April 7, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away on July 31, 2024. He was the cherished first-born son of John and Mary McKillop. Joseph courageously served his country at the age of 17. As a Seaman First Class in the Navy during World War II, he served on the USS Argonne in the South Pacific. On June 14, 1952,

Joseph exchanged vows with the love of his life, Rosemary Gehrke. Together, they raised four daughters: Mary Jo Tyryfter, Colleen Radtke (Roy), Barbara McKillop, and Patricia Przybylka (Jeff). Joe's oldest daughter, Cathy Braatz, preceded him in death. Joseph was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rosemary; his parents; and his sisters: Marie, and Shirley. He leaves behind his brother, Robert (Buck); ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Joseph embodied a strong work ethic. For over 30 years, he served as a crane operator at Hotpoint in West Milwaukee, Wisconsin and retired when he reached his 60th birthday. Joseph embraced retirement and relocated to St. George, Utah, where he and Rosemary spent over thirty fulfilling years. His passion for carpentry was evident in his woodshop, where he crafted gifts for his family and friends. His legacy of craftsmanship will endure in the hearts of those he touched. Joseph John McKillop will be fondly remembered.

Though he has departed this life, his spirit will forever live on in the memories and hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be a private event for close family in Utah.
