Avondale, AZ - Joseph Vernal Williams, age 93, died on March 29, 2024, in Avondale, AZ where he lived with his daughter, Diana, and her husband T.J.
Joseph was born on March 16, 1931, in Pocatello, ID, to Joseph Nelson Williams and Ruby Sims. Joseph married Nancy Lynn Diehl on August 9, 1955, at the Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
Joseph was raised in Pocatello, ID. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served until he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant on July 1, 1973. During this time, he earned several Air Force Commendation medals for his meritorious contribution to the Air Force's success.
After retiring from the Air Force, he moved to Brigham City, UT, where he learned to love golf and finished raising his five children. After retiring from Weber State College, they moved to St. George, UT, where he continued to play golf until the age of 88.
Joseph was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Joseph is survived by his five children: Juanita, Angel, Diana, Charles, and Joseph; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
