St. George, Utah – Joshua Scott Macfarlane, 43, of St. George, Utah, passed away unexpectedly while sleeping on May 7, 2024.

Josh was born on June 22, 1980, to Dave and Julie Macfarlane in St. George, Utah. After Josh graduated from high school in 1998, he served a mission in Houston, Texas. He returned and married his high school sweetheart, Kristin Michelle Shumway, of St. George, Utah in June of 2000. After a series of different jobs, he began a career with Utah Department of Transportation where he has worked for the last 17 years. Josh and Kristin went on to have 3 children, Ayden Hunter, Avery Veon, and Menzies Camden.

Josh had many hobbies but especially loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.

Josh was predeceased by his grandparents: Julia Veon Burton, Howard Chauncey Macfarlane, and Althea Rose Macfarlane-Loosli; as well as his uncles: John Wiser, Whitney Macfarlane, and Todd Macfarlane. He is survived by his wife, Kristin Macfarlane; children: Avery and Davin Hansgen, Ayden Macfarlane, and Camden Macfarlane; parents, Dave Mac and Julie Macfarlane; mother and father-in-law, Darell and Kathy Porterfield; father-in-law, Gerald Shumway; sisters: Crystal Picklesimer, Michelle Kelly, and Nikki Batista; as well as one niece and eleven nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation with family at 1:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Santa Clara 4th Ward Chapel, 1705 Desert Dawn Drive, Santa Clara, Utah.
