St. George, Utah - Joy Brown Miller passed away December 27, 2011. She was born October 31, 1926 in Liberty, Missouri, the only child of Ernest Albert and Olive Clements Brown. She married Harry E. Miller on March 8, 1947 in North Kansas City, MO.

Joy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry E. Miller; her 4 children, Roger C. Miller, St. George, UT; Valerie M. Ferguson (Doug) Kaysville, UT; Debbie M. Thomas (Rick) SLC, UT; Donna M. Mugge (Mark) Littleton, CO; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Joy graduated North Kansas City High School, class of 1944 and William Woods College in Fulton, MO, in 1946. Joy was a resident of Utah for 48 years, where she was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary at the University of Utah in the clinical psychology department for 10 years. She assisted her husband with his interior furnishings business and they traveled extensively throughout the western states.

Upon retirement in 1991, Joy and Harry moved to St. George. Together, they enjoyed traveling throughout many countries around the world. She served many years in her retirement as a volunteer at Dixie Regional Medical Center. Joy adored her grandchildren and never forgot a birthday or special occasion. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing golf, reading, gardening, music and all the fine arts. Joy was member of Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church in St. George. She sang in many church choirs throughout her life, often as a soloist.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Heart or Lung Association.
