Obituary

Santa Clara, Utah – Juanita Davis Frei brought joy to many lives as beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. It is with loving hearts that her family announces her reunion with her husband, Robert "Bud" Frei, after she passed away in her home early on Easter morning, March 31, 2024, at the age of 88.

Juanita's legacy encompasses remarkable strength in the face of hardship and unwavering dedication to faith and family.

She was born on March 7, 1936, in Antimony, Utah, to Cervera Sowards and Admiral Jay Davis. She was middle child among her siblings Edgar, Doreen, Clement, Collette, and Raymond. She attended Dixie College, where she met the love of her life, Bud. They were married on March 4, 1955, and sealed 5 years later on the same day in the St. George Utah Temple. Together they raised three children: Gina (Fred Roberts), Greg (Katherine) and Lisa (Dennis Mitchell). Bud passed away on May 3, 2021, and Juanita had been anxiously awaiting the day she would be reunited with him.

Juanita loved books and learning. She worked as a school librarian in Las Vegas and then in St. George and Santa Clara, where her love for children and for books shone brightly. She was rarely seen without a child on her lap, either rocking a baby or reading a child a story. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her own family, touching the lives of many children who crossed her path.

Juanita's greatest loves were her faith and her family. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her love and wisdom will live on in the hearts of her three children, twelve grandchildren, and thirty-seven great-grandchildren. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her faith and love of the gospel never wavered.

Juanita Davis Frei will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family will continue to be celebrated by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
