Obituary

SALT LAKE CITY - Juanita Brooksby Hinton, age 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister returned to her Heavenly Father on July 7, 2011. Juanita was born January 22, 1929, in Fredonia, AZ to Wilford and Stella Young Brooksby. She was raised in Fredonia, AZ. Juanita married Delmer Hinton, August 9, 1947 in Las Vegas, NV. They were sealed in the St. George LDS Temple September 26, 1947. Juanita and Delmer moved to Southern California in 1951 where they lived for sixty years. She was a valiant and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society President, as well as various other callings throughout her life. Her greatest love was serving and teaching the children in the Primary. Juanita especially loved to feed the missionaries serving nearby. She was well known for her service to others in times of need. Delmer and Juanita opened their home and hearts to many families who came for a family member's treatment at the City of Hope. Juanita loved to read, was an avid quilter, marvelous cook and loved to work in her yard and garden, especially with her roses. Her happiest days were those as a homemaker, wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Delmer; children: Evelyn (Walt) Ames; Gary Delmer (Marlene) Hinton; Janice (Mark) Adams; Charlene (Randall) Brumfield; Eric William (Melissa) Hinton; Karen Lyons; 32 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister: Ella (William Tell deceased) Gubler. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Wilford Armond Brooksby; sisters Evelyn Brooksby and Irene Shamo; and grandson, Nathan Ray Hinton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elm Creek Ward, 8539 South 2200 West, West Jordan, Utah. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hurricane City Cemetery.
