Obituary

St. George, UT - On January 10, 1923, in Meldrum, Kentucky, Juanita Ruth Jackson was born a coal miner's daughter, and remained proud of those roots for the rest of her life. She grew up in Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia moving from mining town to mining town. She married Burns Alfred Mullins on March 24, 1942. For the next four years they lived in Kentucky and had two children Janice Sue and James Alfred. Juanita and the two children moved to California in 1946, while Burns was in Europe, to live with Burns' father, Cowen Mullins. Burns joined them there after he returned from fighting in World War II. They settled in California and had two more children, Robin Keith and Lawrence Wayne. In 1961 they started moving towards the Puget Sound area and in 1964 purchased a lot just outside Renton. When Burns retired in 1983 they moved to Ivins, Utah by way of San Bernardino, California, where father Cowen and daughter Janice still lived. After Burns passed away Juanita decided to move back to the Puget Sound area to be closer to her two youngest sons and their families. She made her residence in Kent, Washington with Lawrence and his family. On June 3, 2010, at the age of 87 years, Juanita went home to be with her beloved Jesus. She is survived by her brother, Michael Jackson; daughter, Janice Sue Casey; two sons, Robin Keith and Lawrence Wayne; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and various in-laws, "out-laws", and friends who will greatly miss her warm heart, gentle spirit, and sense of humor. A graveside ceremony will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ivins City Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to Calvary Chapel South, 317 4th Avenue South, Kent, WA 98032-5837, Phone: 253-852-7030. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.
