St. George, Utah - Judith "Judy" Pflugrad, loving grandmother, mother, sister and daughter, passed away January 27, 2013. She was born September 15, 1941, the oldest of three girls born to Niels and Margaret Sorensen. She did many things in her life, from being a child of the sixties in California to driving heavy ore carriers in the uranium mines of Wyoming. With her magnificent red hair, warm smile and a gregarious laugh she made many friends in her lifetime. She finally met the love of her life, Chester Pflugrad, in Wyoming and with him traveled the country as a husband and wife truck driving team. They hauled everything from oil field equipment in the western states to liquid helium and nitrogen across the country. At one point Judy had her own pink Freightliner truck. After a work injury left her unable to drive trucks anymore she settled down in St. George to be near her father, Niels. She loved good food and had a wicked sense of humor which will be sorely missed. She is survived by her father, Niels (Mary) Sorensen of St. George; sister, Margaret (Jerry) Snurr of Broken Bow, Nebraska; sons, Gary (Pamela) Wattis of Casper, Wyo and Paul (Anne) Wattis, III of San Francisco; grandchildren: Kyle, Desiree, Alexandra, Phyllis and Edmund. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Sorensen and sister, Janice Culver. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 9, 2013 at 4:00 pm at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W St. George Blvd, St. George, UT 84770.
