IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judith Cobb
Shuck
November 25, 1942 – July 28, 2024
Central, Utah – Judith "Judy" Ann Cobb Shuck, 81, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2024, with a beautiful view of the Pine Valley Mountains. Judy was born to Gilbert Hanover Cobb and June Grace Thorn on November 25, 1942, in Syracuse, NY. She was the oldest of two children.
Judy was a kind-hearted, fun-loving mother of five. Although born in Syracuse, NY, her family eventually settled in Ann Arbor, MI, where she attended Hillsdale College and the University of Michigan. In the early 1960's, she began attending nursing school in Pennsylvania where she met Jospeh "David" Shuck on a blind date. They were married May 16, 1964.
Early in their marriage, Judy and David lived in several parts of the country. During that time, they had the first three of their five children, Jay, Richard and Jenny. In 1976, they settled for a time in Waco, TX, where Tina and Chris were born. In 1977, they became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were sealed as a family in the Washington, D.C. Temple on June 3, 1978, and remained active members for the rest of their lives.
From Texas they moved to Philadelphia, PA, then to Greensboro, NC, and later settled in St. George, UT.
Judy felt her greatest accomplishment was her children and she poured her heart and soul into raising them. She loved the church, her books, cooking, gardening, canning, baking, and her Golden Retriever, Abby. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting sweaters and blankets for all of her children and grandchildren.
Judy's special message to her children:
"I love each of you, I am proud of the individuals you each have become and the wonderful children you have brought into this world. I am grateful for the blessing of being your mom. It gave my life purpose. Please hold on to your faith. If it has slipped away, find it again. You'll never regret it. God Bless you and yours. Love Mom "
Judy is survived by her five children: Jay (Lena) Shuck of Central, UT; Richard (Ginny) Shuck of Smithfield, UT; Jenny (Justin) Bates of Rexburg, ID; Tina (Steve) Cannon of Provo, UT; and Chris (Allison) Shuck of Spokane, WA; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "David" Shuck; her parents; and younger brother, Richard Cobb.
There will not be a memorial service.
