Obituary

Hurricane, Utah - Julia Frances Raison Dowse Wade Hart, aged 87, our precious Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, surrounded by family, with her devoted husband Paul at her side. She was born on July 4, 1938, in Pomona, California, to Kenneth Aloysius Raison and Georgia Isabelle Popenoe.   She came into the world with fireworks and left us on the holiest and most joyful day of the year.  She died of causes incident to her age.

Mom was raised for most of her life in Southern California, albeit a short time in Nevada.  She was raised on the "hilltop" in Live Oak Canyon (LaVerne), California.  When Mom was eleven years old, she became a big sister to Georgia, and a few years later to Eileen.  Mom attended school in the Claremont School District and was raised in the Catholic faith.

One Sunday after Mass, Mom first saw Dad, William Eugene Dowse.  Dad was smitten and they both fell in love.   They were married in 1954, and before the end of the year, their 1st son (of 6!) was born.  During the next 6 years, Mom gave birth to 5 more boys, which truly was a blessing for them both, but a handful!  Her last 2 boys, Terry and Ricky, died unexpectedly as babies, causing a tremendous pain to Mom and Dad.  After some time, they felt a strong desire and prompting to adopt a baby girl into the family.  A short time later our sister Tammy was born, and 3 days later she came home to live with us as a family.

Although Mom and Dad were raised Catholic, during their first year of marriage they were introduced to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by Dad's best friend, Roland Long.  They studied, prayed and received confirmation that its teachings were true and were baptized in 1956.  Mom remained a faithful member of the Church, and had a strong, unshakeable testimony of its truth throughout her entire life, especially in the Book of Mormon.  Mom loved to do family history and was very active in temple work for our ancestors and many others.

Mom and Dad's marriage later ended in divorce.  It wasn't long thereafter that Mom began dating Hugh Wade.  Hugh was a tall, handsome, deep bass voiced man.  They fell in love and were married in 1979.  Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity.  Hugh was a great blessing to Mom, and provided her with plenty of joy, adventures and laughter for many years. After Hugh suffered a massive stroke, Mom lovingly was his true helpmate and caregiver for many more years until his passing.

After Hugh's death, Mom wanted to continue to serve others.  She was called on two missions for the Church, in Brazil and Arkansas.  She absolutely loved serving and teaching the gospel to those she met.  Many lifelong friends were made, and Mom loved staying in touch with them.

Mom had a beautiful voice.  She instilled in all of us at early ages the love of music, singing, acting and dancing.  Mom performed in several community theater productions at the Gallery Theater in Upland, California, including playing the lead role of Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie.

After our family moved from Southern California to Salt Lake City in 1971, Mom and Dad auditioned for and joined the Mormon Tabernacle Choir where she enjoyed 8 wonderful years singing with this renowned group of singers.  She traveled to many parts of the world with the Choir and considered it one of the greatest blessings in her life.

In 2012, while living in Ontario, Oregon, Mom was asked out on a date by Paul Hart.  Paul had recently lost his wife and found our Mom and was smitten with her.  They dated and fell in love and were married.  Mom and Paul have had a wonderful 13 years together, moving from Oregon to Saint George and eventually to their current place in Hurricane, Utah.  Paul has taken care of our Mom with true love and devotion.  He brought a love into our Mom's life that she didn't know she would ever see again in this life.

Mom is loved by so many people.  She just has a way of drawing people to her.  The good she sees in everyone is real and genuine.  She is truly an "angel" and one we're certain has been welcomed by multitudes on the other side.   She is now with her two boys, Hugh, her parents and all of her loved ancestors and many of her fur babies that have preceded her over the years.  She is now free to move, sing, dance, and rejoice in eternity!

Mom is survived by her husband, Paul; her sisters: Georgia Goodmanson and Eileen Mairs; sons: William Patrick, Michael Lawrence (Natalie), Robert Kenneth (Linda), Ronald Thomas (Wil); and daughter, Tammy; along with 23 grandchildren, and 60 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her sons: Terry Wayne and Richard Lynn; her parents; and so many other family members and friends.
