Hurricane, Utah
- June Rae Nelson, 89, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 in Hurricane, Utah. She was born June 22, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to loving parents Frank Lyman Gillespie and Blanche Elnora Lemmon. June was the youngest of their eleven children. Her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when she was 16. She attended Las Vegas High School. On June 16, 1946 she married Lawrence "Larry" Raymond Nelson, Jr., the love of her life. They were married 62 years until his passing in 2008. They had five children who they loved very much. She was a full time homemaker and kept a beautiful home.
She was active in her LDS Church holding many positions in all organizations. They moved to St. George, Utah where they lived for 28 years.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; and baby boy, Frank. She is survived by her children: Linda (Steve) Heidelberg, Kathleen Dickman, Lawrence "Ray" (Gail) Nelson, III and Richard (Joni) Nelson; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the Beehive Homes in Hurricane, Utah for the loving care they gave our mother in her last days.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held Friday, prior to services, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
