Obituary

Karen Marie Black Stott was born May 7, 1946, in Provo, Utah. She left her earthly home on January 6, 2024. She married James L. Stott September 30, 1982 and later was sealed in the LDS Temple.

Karen was a keen-witted, intelligent and unique woman to say the very least. Her slipping away has left a hole in our collective hearts that won't soon be healed. She had impeccable culinary skills unsurpassed by anyone and a strong passion for the finer arts in all of it's various forms.

An outdoorsy woman who appreciated and loved all things in nature and had a special love for fishing in particular. She spoke of it often. She loved with warrior-like tenacity and strength. For those whom she loved most, she did so unconditionally and without reservation.

Eloquent in her speech, she made all whom had conversations with her feel of her empathy, experience and understanding. She always knew just the right things to say.

We'll try to make her proud by holding in our hearts always the example she set for us.

Karen is survived by her husband James L. Stott; daughter, Justien Barber; brother, John Black (Julie). She had a special relationship with her grandchildren: Sydnie Sweat (Austin), Austin Barber (Kaylyn), Oakley Cummings, Colin Adair, and Brynlee Barter. Her great grandchildren Kapri, Kimber, Rainlee, and Wade always brought a smile to her face.

Karen is preceded in death by her son, Clint P. Barter, and granddaughter Kylee Barter.
