St. George, UT - Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2009. Karen always had a smile and genuinely cared for all she came in contact with. She was a care giver and a special spirit and will be truly missed by all, especially her family. Karen was the Cache Valley New Year's baby born on January 2, 1938, to Albert Bailey Dunford and Phyllis Dunkley. She was a 1956 Logan High graduate; attended Utah State and excelled in many areas. She was a proud band majorette and a very accomplished pianist. One of her greatest joys was playing the piano and she spent numerous hours practicing new music. She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Petersen (Dean) and Marilyn Eliason (Steve), both of Logan, UT. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Mont Dunford, Willam "Bud" Dunford and Jim Dunford. Karen is survived by a daughter, Julie Ann Bailey Matthews of Las Vegas, NV and one son, Michael Dunford Bailey of Bountiful, UT; one grandson, Christopher Jacob Matthews of St. George, UT who was the light of her life and especially enjoyed spending time with him. Karen has numerous nieces and nephews who she loved and admired and spent countless hours on preparation of special gifts and treats for them. Karen was happiest when spending time with family and friends on outings and vacations. She spent the last 12 years of her life living in St. George, UT. She loved Zion and the many friends she made, especially her special friend "Rainy". She loved the Lord and devoted her later years to attending tabernacle performances and the many special events that took place in her paradise called Zion. A family memorial will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Lundstrom Park 2nd Ward at 1:00 pm in Logan, UT. Interment in the Logan City Cemetery.
