IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karl Stephen
Sorenson
January 4, 1948 – December 2, 2020
St. George – Karl Stephen Sorenson, 72, passed away, December 2, 2020, in St. George, Utah. He was born January 4, 1948, to Andrew and Clara Graf Sorenson.
Karl lived his entire life in Utah's Dixie. He enjoyed sports, following Dixie State's football team and the Green Bay Packers. He loved to hunt, fish, and golf with his family and friends.
Karl valued hard work. He started working at a young age as a dishwasher at Dick's Café and later became a chef. He went on to build a well-respected cement and construction company with his father, Andrew, and only brother, Clair. However, he found his true calling in real estate and became very successful in this career.
Although Karl experienced disappointments and hard luck at times, he found immense joy from his exceptionally large, loving family and cherished friends. He is known for his wry wit and truly good heart. He enjoyed taking care of others in any way he could. He cared for his brother and aging parents for many years.
He was often referred to as a "miracle", having survived bladder cancer as a result of being a Downwinder.
The family would especially like to thank Karl's devoted friends: Don, Jerry, Hal, Brent, Lee, Ed, and Kevin. His life was greatly enriched by these friendships, many of which were lifelong.
Karl was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane Livsey,; his parents; brother, and nephew, Adam Sorenson. He is survived by his seven children: Tammy (Brad), Bridgett (Sean), Robyn (Morgan), Nichole, Mandy (Marshall), David (Leeanna), Paige (Casheem), and 27 grandchildren. Additionally, he has two great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Ethel Lynn Thorne (Alan) and former wives Xiaoping Sorenson and Melissa Phillips.
Due to Covid, just close friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on December 12 th, 2020, from 1-3 p.m. at 721 W. 1490 N. Circle, Washington, UT.
Those who wish to honor Karl are encouraged to donate to the Salvation Army or a cancer foundation in lieu of flowers.
