IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karl Joel
White
May 10, 1939 – February 2, 2026
Karl Joel White
Karl Joel White, age 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 2, 2026, at his home. He was born May 10, 1939, in Kanab, Utah, to Joel and Guenivere White.
Karl married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Kathleen Mary Johnson, on June 29, 1962, in the St. George Utah Temple. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
The oldest of six children, Karl grew up in Hurricane, Utah, where he graduated from Hurricane High School and served as the class photographer. He continued developing his love of photography at Dixie College, where he earned the nickname "Pinkie" from Elder Jeffrey R. Holland for his trademark pink bowtie, worn daily. Karl later attended the University of Utah, earning a degree in Medical Technology. It was there that he met the love of his life, Kathleen.
In 1964, Karl and Kathleen moved to St. George, Utah, where they raised their family in the shadow of the St. George Temple. Karl devoted 48 years of service as a medical technologist at Dixie Memorial Hospital, now Intermountain Healthcare.
Karl served a faithful mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States from 1958 to 1960. Throughout his life, he served willingly and diligently in many church callings, including Scoutmaster, Ward Clerk, Counselor in the Bishopric, Primary Teacher, and Stake Employment Specialist, the latter alongside his beloved wife. He was also a devout Home Teacher and ministering brother dragging his 4 sons alongside him.
Karl found great joy in working in his beautiful yard—tending grapes, pecan and apricot trees, and a thriving garden. He also loved dancing, hiking, and capturing memories through photography on his many adventures.
Karl is survived by his wife Kathleen, his 6 children and their spouses —Kim and Dan Syphus, Joel and Trish White, Kyle and Dawna White, Kerry and Courtney White, Karson and Joy White, Kami and Zack Beitler, 26 Grandkids, and 38 Great grandkids and counting. He was preceded in death by his Dad and Mom, Joel and Guenivere White and his brother Elbert White.
Open House viewing will be Monday February 9th from noon to 1:30 pm at Metcalf Bonzo Mortuary 288 West St. George Blvd. Friends and Family are welcome.
