ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Karleen Allen Stauffer, age 71, passed away on December 31, 2011. She was born on September 10, 1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her parents are the late John and Mary Allen. She married Val C. Stauffer in the Logan Temple on June 26, 1964.

She was a good student and was very active in student government during her high school years. She received high scholastic honors from Utah State University where she graduated with a degree in French.

She had eight children, including two sets of twins. She enjoyed spending time with her family boating and having backyard BBQ's. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many leadership positions.

Music was very important to her. She played the piano all of her life and was a very accomplished pianist. She taught piano lessons for many years. She sang beautifully and was a member of several choirs, including the Keynotes and the Southern Utah Heritage Choir.

She is survived by her loving husband; six sons and two daughters: Ron (Kristie) of Orem, Randall (Leanne) of Cedar Hills, Utah, Richard (Annette) of Highland, Utah, Mark (Angela) of St. George, Utah, Melanie (James) of Center, Kentucky, Matthew (Wendy) of Lehi, Utah, Maree (Matthew) of Loganville, Georgia, Sterling (Michelle) of St. George, Utah; thirty-two grandchildren; and one brother Dennis (Linda) Allen of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Indian Hills LDS Chapel in Green Valley, 450 S Indian Hills Drive, St. George. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, and Friday, January 6, 2012 from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Mendon City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, 435-673-4221.

In lieu of flowers, Karleen requested that donations be sent to the LDS Church Humanitarian fund.
