Obituary

St. George, UT – Kathleen Nicholson Bovo, 71, passed away at home on May 3, 2022, in St. George, UT, surrounded by loved ones. She was born June 9, 1950, to Colin Nicholson and Sarah (Sally) Pearce, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married, the love of her life, Rich Bovo on May 12, 1990. They were sealed for all eternity in her favorite temple, the Manti Temple.

Kathleen was the oldest daughter of seven, with one older brother and five younger siblings, three of whom passed on ahead of her. She was raised in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City, Utah, living in the same home from kindergarten until her graduation from Highland High School. While in elementary school, she was part of a Russian speaking pilot program which she immensely enjoyed, as she always enjoyed learning about other cultures. Singing in her school and church choir groups brought great joy to Kathleen's life, as she always found her daily motivation and peace in uplifting music.

Her mother demonstrated the value in serving others as a nurse and Kathleen followed in her mother's footsteps, graduating from BYU's Nursing Program in 1972. For the next 40 years she selflessly served others as a Med-Surg RN and then as a Home Health Nurse, for as long as her health would permit. Being a nurse always brought her great happiness and she considered it to be on of the greatest achievements of her lifetime, along with her 35 years of service, as a member of the Society of Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, was the foundation for how Kathleen chose to live her life each day. Sharing her testimony with others came easily because of her genuine and unrelenting love of the Savior and his gospel. She strived each day to follow in his footsteps by serving others, even when her health failed her. Her unconditional, Christlike love touched the lives of her family, friends, and all who were blessed to cross her path.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Rich Bovo; and her three children: Melinda Adams, Amy Perkins, and David Marrott. Her posterity includes nine grandchildren and three, soon to be four, great grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by five stepchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and three siblings.
